Well Hello there!!!

Been awhile.  Taken some time away.  It’s been nice, but things are about to massively change.   So here I am again, back to write it all out.

...

Been in therapy pretty hard core, and been focusing on Braille, O&M(orientation & mobility), and really just learning to live this new life.

Braille is possibly the most complicated, convoluted, backward, crazy thing I have EVER attempted to learn.

I learned A-Z, and the symbol for numbers which are A-J…easy enough right?   Ready for graduation.

I’ll send out invitations.  YAY, right?

Nope…Sit down, stupid boy.   So you learn the entire alphabet.   But that’s only the beginning. Each individual letter, except A & I,  mean a whole word.

Such as

B, But

C, Can

D, do

K, knowledge

Q, quite

R, rather

W, Will

X, it

So 24 words right?   I thought for sure that was the last step.

And then today happens.   I passed that point.  GRADUATION!?!?!?  Yeah, no.

The letters have more meanings when you add a second letter.  The only one I know is:

wd, would.

How much more of this can there be?   My memory bank is gonna be filled UP.  AND Braille spaces are so small they all run together.   Is that a word, or letter?   Is it B as in B, or 2? Or as in But?  J as in J, or zero? Or Just? And on and on and on.

I for real have to have mental nap time after studying Braille.  And then you see KIDS zip through it like no tomorrow.

Astounding.

So, on a Lighter note.  I’ve always always loved quilts.  Like a lot.  So I decided to go take a sewing class.   I mean.  I have nothing else to do.  Why not?

Have read about how your mind can just escape while doing it.  I was all in…take me away.  It was 25 bucks.  For two hours.   What could it hurt?  Benton took me and I threatened his life.   He had to stay and wait for me…because as soon as I wanted to bail, I needed out.

Two hours later I’m looking at sewing machines.  Did you know some of those things cost more than our car???  Like seriously.   I left with my three papers I sewed, and no machine.    GOOD GRAVY.

Quilting is not in my near future, but I do think I’ll start making Benton’s shirts.   Very simple pattern, if I mess up he will never care.  Saves money on clothes…he’s worse than me.   He will WEAR clothes out.

Ordered a BASIC machine.   So, I’ll be ready for classes next week.

BUT, that’s where things get wonky.  I have my home visit from the guide dog institute on Wednesday.   They could tell me I have to pack and head to Florida next weekend, or next month, or the next.   No clue.   No clue if they’ll tell me anything.  So everything is in hold until I get some sort of schedule of what’s going to happen.

And with me liking to be in control of everything as I do, that really drives me crazy!!!

But, it’ll be okay.   It’ll be okay.  It’ll be okay.  It’ll be okay Thomas.

Oh also when I leave I could be gone for up to 6 weeks!  Yay, I’ve never been away from Home for more than a week.   And never totally alone.  Oh Lordy.

It’ll be okay.   It’ll be okay.

Sweet Moses ice skating with a buttered biscuit on fire.

Help me!!!

On a lighter note…

Benton never reads these once I put them online.   His birthday is coming up.  For his birthday I wanted to get him a usable, mint condition, antique drafting set from Germany.   He’s obsessed with using old, well made tools, and really appreciates using all of treys drawing tools, and books, and really everything.

Trey was always very particular about gifts, and VERY particular about his tools.   The man had 54 flashlights because he always wanted the best one.    Same with measuring tapes.    I could open a store!!!

Anyhow I found the perfect set.  German made, one owner, and in perfect condition.  It’s a total TREY gift.  Down to a T.

BUT, Benton and I don’t do gifts.   So I’m not allowed to spend any money…but I’ve got a way around it.   I figured if anyone would like to chip in a Buck or two or 50…we could get him the perfect Trey gift that he would always Treasure, and use.   Like every damn flashlight he keeps hidden around the house, or measure tape in every car…Trey Junior.

If you’d like more details or would like to chip in email me directly at thomas@as5.io for my Venmo.
